Automatic Doors across Niagara Falls
We work throughout Niagara Falls — Stanley Avenue Business Park, Montrose Industrial Business Park, Drummond Industrial Area, Lundy's Lane Commercial Corridor and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly accommodation and food services, wholesale and retail trade and advanced and light manufacturing, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Niagara Falls’s 94,415 residents keep those buildings busy.

Broken automatic doors in Niagara Falls: we dispatch 24/7.
Niagara Falls is roughly a 90-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area. Planned work, measures and maintenance travel there without difficulty; on a middle-of-the-night emergency we will tell you the drive time on the phone, and what to do to make the opening safe until we arrive.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Automatic sliding doors and swing-door operators in Niagara Falls — which one an opening needs
These are two different products, not two brands of one, and the difference decides what an opening in Niagara Falls actually needs. An automatic sliding door is a purpose-built package — leaves, framing, header operator and sensors engineered together — and the panel slides, so it needs no swing arc. An automatic door opener for a swing door is a motor added to a hinged door, usually one already hanging. Canuck Door Systems installs and services both across Niagara Falls; traffic and floor space settle the choice before budget does.
Automatic doors for the work Niagara Falls buildings do
The sectors that dominate Niagara Falls — accommodation and food services, wholesale and retail trade, advanced and light manufacturing — each ask something different of an automatic entrance.
Accommodation and food services
Touchless is the point: wave-activated operators keep hands off door hardware between wash stations, offices and production — activation chosen to work with gloves and sanitation routines.
Wholesale and retail trade
The classic automatic slider: continuous two-way traffic, carts and strollers, no swing arc eating the vestibule — with break-out leaves where the exit route demands them.
Advanced and light manufacturing
Personnel doors on plants earn operators where hands are full: push-plate and wave activation on the routes between floor and office, and universal washroom packages where the office block needs them.
Logistics & warehousing
A warehouse’s automatic door is at the front, not the dock: a barrier-free operator on the office entrance, and a slider where staff cross between office and floor all shift.
Offices & business parks
Barrier-free entrances are the ask: low-energy operators on the accessible route, sliders on busy vestibules, and universal washroom packages — the accessibility checklist, installed and serviced.
Healthcare & clinics
The heaviest users of the trade: low-energy operators on corridors and exam wings, sliders on main vestibules, and universal washroom packages with the lock, operator and indicator sequenced correctly.

Common questions about automatic doors
What are the common problems with automatic doors?
In rough order of how often we are called for them: sensors that have drifted, been knocked or been blinded by sunlight or a new floor finish; dirty or worn rollers and tracks on a slider, which show up as a door that shudders or stalls; failed or misadjusted safety beams that leave the door stuck open or reversing at random; belts, motors and control boards at the end of their life; and damage from something that hit the door. The single most common underlying cause is not the operator at all — it is a building change nobody connected to the entrance, like a new mat, a new sign or a re-tiled floor.
How long does an automatic door take to supply and install?
Typically 4–6 weeks to produce the door once shop drawings are approved, then 1–2 weeks to schedule the job and install it — so around 5–8 weeks in total, depending on the size of the project. An automatic slider runs to the longer end because the operator, the framing and the glass all have to arrive together. A standard automatic door operator is a different matter entirely: those are stock items, so fitting one to a door that already hangs correctly is usually 2–3 days rather than weeks. Emergency repairs are a different clock again and are dispatched 24/7. On site, a single automatic entrance is usually installed in a day; a full package on a general contractor's build runs over several weeks.
Are automatic doors required by law in Ontario?
Not as a blanket rule. The requirement comes from the Ontario Building Code's barrier-free provisions, which apply when you build or renovate, and from the AODA's Design of Public Spaces standard, which covers certain new and redeveloped exterior paths and entrances. Existing buildings are not ordered to retrofit every door. In practice most of our operator work is triggered by a permit, a renovation, an accessibility complaint or a tenant requirement rather than by an inspector arriving unannounced — and where the code does apply, the entrance also has to meet clear-width and opening-force limits, not just open by itself.
