Automatic Doors across Newmarket
We work throughout Newmarket — Newmarket Industrial Park, 404 Employment Area, Mulock Employment Area, Yonge Street Corridor and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly health sciences and healthcare, public sector administration and light manufacturing, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Newmarket’s 87,942 residents keep those buildings busy.
We have completed 10 automatic door jobs in Newmarket since 2023 — including work on Davis Drive and Crossland Gate.

Broken automatic doors in Newmarket: we dispatch 24/7.
Newmarket is roughly a 55-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Automatic sliding doors and swing-door operators in Newmarket — which one an opening needs
These are two different products, not two brands of one, and the difference decides what an opening in Newmarket actually needs. An automatic sliding door is a purpose-built package — leaves, framing, header operator and sensors engineered together — and the panel slides, so it needs no swing arc. An automatic door opener for a swing door is a motor added to a hinged door, usually one already hanging. Canuck Door Systems installs and services both across Newmarket; traffic and floor space settle the choice before budget does.
Automatic doors for the work Newmarket buildings do
The sectors that dominate Newmarket — health sciences and healthcare, public sector administration, light manufacturing — each ask something different of an automatic entrance.
Health sciences and healthcare
The heaviest users of the trade: low-energy operators on corridors and exam wings, sliders on main vestibules, and universal washroom packages with the lock, operator and indicator sequenced correctly.
Light manufacturing
Personnel doors on plants earn operators where hands are full: push-plate and wave activation on the routes between floor and office, and universal washroom packages where the office block needs them.
Retail trade
The classic automatic slider: continuous two-way traffic, carts and strollers, no swing arc eating the vestibule — with break-out leaves where the exit route demands them.
General contractors & new builds
For general contractors: sliders and swing operators supplied and installed to ANSI/BHMA A156.10 and A156.19, with the sensors, signage and activation the standard actually requires.
Logistics & warehousing
A warehouse’s automatic door is at the front, not the dock: a barrier-free operator on the office entrance, and a slider where staff cross between office and floor all shift.
Food & pharma processing
Touchless is the point: wave-activated operators keep hands off door hardware between wash stations, offices and production — activation chosen to work with gloves and sanitation routines.

Common questions about automatic doors
Do automatic doors have to be tied into the fire alarm?
Often, and it is one of the details that gets missed on a retrofit quotation. Where a door is on an egress route or in a rated separation, its behaviour on alarm has to be specified — some doors are required to open and stay open, others to close and latch, and holding a rated door open on a magnet is only permitted where it releases on alarm. The rule follows the opening's role in the building, not the operator's brand, so it is decided with the door, not after it.
How often do automatic doors need to be inspected?
The industry standard is a daily safety check by the building's own staff and a full inspection once a year by a certified inspector. Our technicians hold AAADM certification for exactly this — the annual inspection of automatic pedestrian doors — and the daily check takes about a minute: watch the door cycle, confirm it does not close on anything, confirm the signage and guide rails are still in place. Skipping the annual inspection is a liability question more than a maintenance one, because an automatic door is a powered machine that the public walks through.
How long does an automatic door take to supply and install?
Typically 4–6 weeks to produce the door once shop drawings are approved, then 1–2 weeks to schedule the job and install it — so around 5–8 weeks in total, depending on the size of the project. An automatic slider runs to the longer end because the operator, the framing and the glass all have to arrive together. A standard automatic door operator is a different matter entirely: those are stock items, so fitting one to a door that already hangs correctly is usually 2–3 days rather than weeks. Emergency repairs are a different clock again and are dispatched 24/7. On site, a single automatic entrance is usually installed in a day; a full package on a general contractor's build runs over several weeks.
