We work throughout Toronto — Downtown core, Liberty Village, Leaside, The Junction and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly office towers, retail and hospitality, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Toronto’s 2,794,356 residents keep those buildings busy.
We have completed 128 security shutter and grille jobs in Toronto since 2020 — including work on Old Forest Hill Road, Bloor Street West, Yonge Street and Augusta Avenue.

Broken shutter, grille or gate in Toronto: we dispatch 24/7.
Toronto is roughly a 30-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Which closure fits the opening
We specify to the opening rather than to one catalogue, and we service any make. Most of what goes on a Toronto building comes from three manufacturers — Pentagon, MobilFlex and Emart — and the opening usually decides which one before the budget does.
Pentagon security shutters — storefronts, counters and houses
Pentagon build rolling security shutters in three lines, and between them they cover a shop front, a counter and a house window. We supply, install and service all three in Toronto, and we carry the parts that fail first.

MobilFlex rolling and side-folding closures
MobilFlex, from Québec, build the closures on mall units, bank lobbies, airport shops and school serveries — the ones that must lock a space in Toronto and still let people see into it. They come two ways: rolling up into a coil, or folding sideways into a stack at the jamb, and which one suits an opening in Toronto is usually decided by the headroom above it.

Emart expandable security gates
An expandable, or scissor, gate is the simplest closure there is: a steel lattice that pulls across the opening and folds back to a narrow stack at the side. Emart Factory, a Toronto supplier on Magnetic Drive, sell them for storefronts, pharmacies, warehouses and homes, and we measure, fit and repair them in Toronto — most often on a back door or a unit in Toronto with no room for a coil.

Inside the glass, outside it, or not allowed at all in Toronto
Three positions are possible and they are not equally available. What a Toronto tenant may fit is often settled by somebody else before price is discussed at all.
Security shutters on houses and cottages in Toronto
Houses are a real part of this work: basement and ground-floor windows, a cottage closed for the winter, a garage, a sliding patio door. Two products do most of it.

A shutter slows a break-in down; it does not stop one
No grille, gate or shutter makes a building in Toronto impossible to get into. What it does is turn a ten-second smash-and-grab into a noisy job with tools — and that time is only worth something if the rest of the building uses it. Treat the closure as one layer of a security plan for the Toronto property, not the plan itself.
What a shutter or grille costs in Toronto, and what moves the number
Everything here is built to a measured opening, so there is no list price to quote. Three things move a number more than width does.
After hours, when it will not go up — on any make
A shutter jammed down is a business in Toronto that cannot open, and one jammed up is a business that cannot close. We repair Pentagon, MobilFlex and Emart closures and most other makes in Toronto, whoever installed them.

Shutters and grilles for the work Toronto buildings do
The sectors that dominate Toronto — office towers, retail, hospitality — each have something different to shut away, and a different hour to do it in.
Office towers
Reception hatches, mail rooms, server and comms cupboards, the coffee bar that shuts at three. Small openings, and the ones people actually operate every day — so a counter shutter with a decent lift and a proper lock beats a big shutter specified for a door somebody props open instead.
Retail
This is the trade’s home ground. A solid slat curtain outside the glass stops the glass being broken at all; a folding grille behind it keeps the window shopping while the unit is shut. Which you can have is often the landlord’s call, not yours — a mall fit-out manual usually names the closure and sometimes the finish.
Hospitality
Bars, poolside servery hatches and shop units inside the lobby, all of which shut while the building stays awake. Noise matters more here than anywhere else: a curtain running in worn guides above a guest room is a complaint, and it is usually the guides rather than the curtain.
Institutional
Canteens, tuck shops, gyms and libraries inside a building that stays open around them. A folding grille across a corridor closes a wing after hours and stacks flat against a jamb in the morning; a counter shutter closes the servery without closing the hall. Exit routes govern both.
Condominium property management
Parking entries, bike and locker rooms, amenity counters and the party room bar. The board’s problem is usually not the first fitting but the eleventh year — a curtain nobody has serviced, a motor with no manual override, and a shutter stuck half down across the only vehicle entrance at seven in the morning.
Food & pharma processing
Anywhere a shutter meets a wash-down or a controlled area the finish is the whole question — mill finish aluminum, powder coat, or stainless where it is hosed. Counter shutters over serveries and dispensaries close the opening without closing the room, and the guides have to be cleanable rather than merely cleaned.

Common questions about security shutters & grilles
Can you service a shutter another company installed?
Yes — most of the shutters we look after came from somebody else. Slats, guides, bottom bars, locks, springs and motors are largely cross-compatible or can be matched, which is not true of automatic door operators. Where a curtain is genuinely beyond economical repair we will say so and quote a replacement against the guides and structure you already have, which is much less expensive than starting from nothing.
Do you install and service Pentagon security shutters?
Yes — Pentagon is one of the three makes we buy from. We supply and fit DefendaGuard on windows, doors and garages, EntrexGuard on retail storefronts and TambourGuard over shelving and dispensaries, and we service Pentagon shutters whoever put them in: motors, limits, springs, slats, locks and bottom bars.
What is the difference between a shutter, a grille and a gate?
A shutter is a solid or perforated curtain of interlocking slats that rolls up into a coil above the opening — it closes the opening completely. A grille is the same idea built from links or rods you can see through, so a window display stays visible after hours. A folding gate does not roll at all: it slides sideways along a track and stacks like a concertina, which is the answer when there is no headroom for a coil. All three secure an opening; the choice is usually made by headroom and by whether you want to be seen into.
