Door systems across Vaughan

We work throughout Vaughan — Concord, Woodbridge, Vaughan Enterprise Zone, Highway 400 corridor and the blocks around them. Whether the address says Woodbridge, Maple, Concord or Thornhill, it’s all Vaughan to us — same crews, same dispatch. The buildings here are mostly warehousing, construction supply and entertainment and attractions, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Vaughan’s 323,103 residents keep those buildings busy.

We have completed 298 door jobs in Vaughan since 2020 — commercial doors, loading docks, hollow metal and steel doors and commercial glass and aluminum doors — including work on Canada's Wonderland Drive, Langstaff Road, Millway Avenue and Bass Pro Mills Drive.

Vaughan is roughly a 30-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.

Common questions about doors

How do you fix a misaligned metal door?

We start by working out whether the leaf, the frame or the building moved. A steel door that has stopped latching usually needs the strike relocated, the hinges renewed, or the frame pulled back to square and re-anchored; where a frame has been hit hard enough to twist, the frame is replaced. What we avoid is the common site fix of grinding the latch or the strike until it catches, because it defeats the closer, wrecks the seal and — on a rated opening — invalidates the assembly.

Why does our leveler no longer reach the trailer?

Three usual causes. On a mechanical unit the springs have weakened, so the deck no longer rises to full height — this is gradual and easy to miss until it fails. On any unit, the lip hinge or lip may be bent or seized from being driven over out of position. Or the trailers have changed: a new carrier with lower beds can put you outside the unit's range even though nothing has broken. Diagnosis is quick, and only the third one means a different leveler.

What is a hollow metal door?

Two formed steel face sheets welded or interlocked around a core, hung in a steel frame. The name describes how it is built rather than what is inside it — the cavity is filled with honeycomb, polystyrene, polyurethane, mineral board or steel stiffeners depending on what the opening has to do. It is the standard commercial door in Ontario because it is dimensionally stable, can carry a fire label, and every part of it can be repaired in place.

How much do glass partition walls cost in Toronto?

Enough of the price is decided on site that any single figure is misleading, but the drivers are consistent. Framed single-glazed partitions are the entry point; going frameless adds thicker, heavier glass and more careful handling; going double-glazed for acoustics roughly doubles the glass and adds framing depth. After that it is doors and their hardware, the finish on the framing, manifestation, and site logistics — an occupied downtown tower with elevator bookings and after-hours access costs noticeably more to work in than a ground-floor suburban unit. We quote from a site measure rather than a plan, which is also why our number tends to be the one that does not move later.

What is the difference between a counter shutter and a counter grille?

Only the curtain. A counter shutter uses interlocking slats and closes the opening completely; a counter grille uses links or rods you can see through. The shutter is the choice where you want the room behind it out of sight or need to keep light, smell and dust in the kitchen. The grille is the choice where a display, a menu board or simply the impression of an open room should still be visible after hours. Both roll into the same kind of coil and lock the same way.

Are automatic doors required by law in Ontario?

Not as a blanket rule. The requirement comes from the Ontario Building Code's barrier-free provisions, which apply when you build or renovate, and from the AODA's Design of Public Spaces standard, which covers certain new and redeveloped exterior paths and entrances. Existing buildings are not ordered to retrofit every door. In practice most of our operator work is triggered by a permit, a renovation, an accessibility complaint or a tenant requirement rather than by an inspector arriving unannounced — and where the code does apply, the entrance also has to meet clear-width and opening-force limits, not just open by itself.
