Door systems across Richmond Hill
We work throughout Richmond Hill — Beaver Creek Business Park, Headford Business Park and Newkirk. The buildings here are mostly corporate offices, medical and dental clinics and retail, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Richmond Hill’s 202,022 residents keep those buildings busy.
We have completed 85 door jobs in Richmond Hill since 2020 — commercial doors, automatic doors, garage door repairs and commercial glass and aluminum doors — including work on Industrial Road, Yonge Street, High Tech Road and Newkirk Road.

Broken doors in Richmond Hill: we dispatch 24/7.
Richmond Hill is roughly a 40-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Common questions about doors
What is an impact door, and how is it different?
An impact door is a traffic door built for vehicle traffic rather than foot traffic — thicker panels, a much tougher facing material, reinforced edges and hardware sized to survive being struck by a pallet jack or a forklift rather than a shoulder. In practice the terms overlap: every impact door is a traffic door, but a light kitchen traffic door will not survive a warehouse aisle. The distinction that matters when specifying is what hits the door, and how fast.
How quickly can you get to a stuck door?
The line is answered 24 hours a day and crews dispatch from Mississauga, which is central to the GTA rather than at one end of it. What we will not do is quote you a headline response time we cannot hold at 3am in February — we tell you on the phone when a crew can be there, and if the honest answer is longer than you want, you get to make other arrangements instead of waiting.
How do you adjust commercial glass door pivots?
The top pivot sets the leaf’s alignment in the frame and the bottom pivot or patch fitting sets its height and swing. Both are adjusted with the leaf supported, because an all-glass door is heavy and its glass cannot be trimmed if something shifts. On a framed aluminum door this is routine service work. On an all-glass Herculite-type door we would not recommend doing it in-house: the patch fittings clamp pre-drilled tempered glass, and a leaf that slips is a shattered leaf.
What is a dock leveler used for?
It bridges the two gaps between your building and a trailer: the horizontal gap where the trailer stops short of the dock face, and the vertical difference between the dock floor and the trailer bed. Without one, a forklift cannot safely cross the threshold, because the trailer bed is almost never level with the dock. The leveler's deck pivots up or down and its lip extends onto the trailer floor, creating a continuous ramp that moves with the trailer as it is loaded and the suspension settles.
Can a hollow metal door be fire-rated?
Yes, and it is the usual way an opening gets its rating. A labelled hollow metal door and frame carries a rating of 20, 45, 60, 90 or 180 minutes, certified by ULC or UL, with a mineral core where the rating requires one. Every part of the assembly has to be labelled and compatible — door, frame, hinges, closer, latch and any glazing — which is why a rated opening is specified as one assembly rather than assembled from parts. The rated line is covered on our fire-rated doors pages.
What thickness glass is used in commercial windows?
For a single monolithic lite, 6 mm is the common commercial thickness, with 8 mm and 10 mm used as the pane gets larger or more exposed. For insulated units the usual overall thickness is 25 mm (1 inch), typically built as 6 mm glass, a 12.7 mm air or argon cavity, and another 6 mm pane. Laminated glass adds an interlayer and runs thicker again. The right answer for your opening depends on the size of the lite, the wind load, the floor it sits on and whether the location needs safety glazing — we confirm it when we measure rather than guessing from a photo.
Four decades of doors for names Ontario knows — Canada’s Wonderland, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, the LCBO, Metrolinx, Marriott & Hilton hotels, the University of Toronto — plus thousands of businesses across the GTA. Dependable people, quality products, since 1979.
