Operable Walls across Bradford
We work throughout Bradford — Highway 400 Prestige Employment Lands, Artesian Industrial Business Park, Reagens Industrial Park, Holland Street Corridor and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly construction and contracting, manufacturing and industrial engineering and transportation, freight and logistics, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Bradford’s 42,880 residents keep those buildings busy.

Broken operable walls in Bradford: we dispatch 24/7.
Bradford is roughly a 65-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Which movable wall the room needs
Two families do this job in Bradford, and they are not interchangeable. An operable panel wall is a run of rigid panels on an overhead track, moved one at a time and stacked out of the way. A folding accordion partition is continuous — it pulls across in one piece and folds into itself. Pick by the acoustic requirement first, the stacking room second, the finish last.
Single-panel, paired-panel, bi-parting — three words that get mixed up
Two of these get used as opposites in Bradford enquiries when they are nothing of the kind. One describes how the panels are made up; the other describes which way the wall opens. A single-panel wall can be bi-parting, and so can a paired-panel one.
Woodfold Series 2100 and Series 3300
Woodfold is the accordion line we deal in, and their two wood-faced acoustic partitions are what most Bradford enquiries are really asking about. The difference is one wall or two, worth about twelve points of rating. Both are operated by hand.
What the STC number buys, and where the sound really goes
Every rating is a test of a panel, not a promise about your room. What you get in a Bradford building is set by the weakest path the sound can take, and that is almost never the wall itself.

Service, parts and walls we did not install in Bradford
Much of the Bradford work in this silo is walls put in decades ago by companies that no longer exist. Heavy, noisy, dragging, not sealing — that is carriers, track, seals and panel hardware, and it is nearly always adjustable rather than finished.

Common questions about operable walls
Can you service a wall you did not install?
Yes, and a large part of what we do in this silo is exactly that — walls installed decades ago by companies that no longer exist. Carriers, seals, track, panel hardware and finishes are all serviceable, and a wall that has become heavy, noisy or leaky is nearly always adjustable rather than finished. Where the panels themselves are beyond economical repair, the track and structure can often be reused.
What is the difference between an operable wall and a folding partition?
An operable wall is made of individual rigid panels, usually 900 mm to 1.2 m wide, that hang from a track and are moved one at a time then stacked. A folding partition is continuous — a concertina of hinged panels or a vinyl-faced accordion that pulls across in one piece and folds into itself. Operable panel walls perform better acoustically and look more like a real wall when closed; accordion partitions are lighter, less expensive, faster to operate and need less stacking room. Both are movable walls, and the choice is usually decided by the acoustic requirement and the budget.
Who operates it — and how hard is it?
Manual panel walls are moved by one person, panel by panel, and a well-adjusted wall moves easily; a wall that has become a two-person job is telling you the track or the carriers need service. Large hall walls are often electrically operated instead, on a key switch. Whichever it is, staff should be trained once and shown the sequence — most of the damage we repair comes from a wall being forced by someone who did not know the seals have to be retracted first.
