Residential
Door systems across Ajax
We work throughout Ajax — Central Employment Area, GTA East Industrial Park, Lakeridge Logistics Centre, Audley Road North Business Park and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly logistics, warehousing, and storage, advanced manufacturing and retail trade and commercial services, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Ajax’s 126,666 residents keep those buildings busy.
We have completed 66 door jobs in Ajax since 2020 — commercial doors, automatic doors, commercial glass and aluminum doors and hollow metal and steel doors — including work on Bayly Street West, Harwood Avenue South, Keensford Court and Fairall Street.

Broken doors in Ajax: we dispatch 24/7.
Ajax is roughly a 55-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Common questions about doors
Do you repair doors you did not install?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We service commercial doors, operators and dock equipment regardless of who supplied them, including brands we do not sell. If the door is beyond economical repair we will say so and quote the replacement, but the first visit is about getting the opening working again.
Are automatic doors required by law in Ontario?
Not as a blanket rule. The requirement comes from the Ontario Building Code's barrier-free provisions, which apply when you build or renovate, and from the AODA's Design of Public Spaces standard, which covers certain new and redeveloped exterior paths and entrances. Existing buildings are not ordered to retrofit every door. In practice most of our operator work is triggered by a permit, a renovation, an accessibility complaint or a tenant requirement rather than by an inspector arriving unannounced — and where the code does apply, the entrance also has to meet clear-width and opening-force limits, not just open by itself.
Can a commercial glass or aluminum entrance be fire-rated?
A standard aluminum entrance cannot carry a fire label — aluminum softens well below the temperature a rated assembly has to survive. Where an opening needs a rating we put a labelled hollow-metal or rated wood assembly in it instead, with rated vision glazing if the opening still has to be seen through. Tell us the rating the drawings call for and we will specify to it rather than glaze around it.
Can a hollow metal door be fire-rated?
Yes, and it is the usual way an opening gets its rating. A labelled hollow metal door and frame carries a rating of 20, 45, 60, 90 or 180 minutes, certified by ULC or UL, with a mineral core where the rating requires one. Every part of the assembly has to be labelled and compatible — door, frame, hinges, closer, latch and any glazing — which is why a rated opening is specified as one assembly rather than assembled from parts. The rated line is covered on our fire-rated doors pages.
Can broken glass be repaired, or does it have to be replaced?
In a commercial building it is replaced. A chip in a windshield can be filled because laminated automotive glass is built for it; architectural glass is not. Tempered glass that has been broken has released its stress and is finished, a cracked annealed lite is a safety-glazing failure waiting to happen, and a sealed unit with a broken lite has lost its cavity. What can genuinely be repaired is the frame and the hardware around the glass, which is often what actually failed.
Can a security shutter be motorized, and should it be?
Yes, and the honest test is how often it cycles and who cycles it. A shutter opened and closed once a day by staff can stay on a chain hoist for years. One that opens several times a day, is very wide or very heavy, or is operated by whoever is on shift, should be motorized — manual operation is where the damage comes from. A motor also brings a key switch, remote or timer, and a manual override for a power failure, which is not optional on an opening people leave through.
Four decades of doors for names Ontario knows — Canada’s Wonderland, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, the LCBO, Metrolinx, Marriott & Hilton hotels, the University of Toronto — plus thousands of businesses across the GTA. Dependable people, quality products, since 1979.
