Broken doors in Stoney Creek: we dispatch 24/7.
Stoney Creek is roughly a 45-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Common questions about doors
Do you install fire-rated doors, and who certifies them?
Yes. A rated opening is a labelled assembly — leaf, frame and hardware all certified together — so it is installed to the listing and nothing on it is modified on site, because a field cut voids the label. The certification is the manufacturer's label, not ours; what we add is installing to it and keeping the assembly intact. Annual inspection of those openings is a separate, recurring job under the fire code, and we do that too.
Do you repair steel doors, or only replace them?
We repair them, and most of our steel-door calls are repairs. Frames get straightened and re-anchored, rusted bottom rails cut out and new sections welded in, hinges and closers replaced, latches and strikes realigned, and kick plates and astragals fitted. A hollow metal opening is worth repairing precisely because every part of it is a part — replacement is the answer when the frame is beyond straightening or the leaf has rusted through.
What is a handicap door opener actually called?
In the trade it is a low-energy power operator, or a barrier-free operator. "Handicap door opener" and "ADA door opener" are what people search for, and everyone in the industry knows what they mean, but the Ontario documents you will be held to say barrier-free — the Ontario Building Code's Section 3.8, the AODA, and CSA B651. The distinction is worth knowing when you are reading a specification or an inspection report, because the word "handicap" will not appear in either.
How long does it take to install a frameless glass door system?
Typically 4–6 weeks to produce the glass once the shop drawings are approved, then 1–2 weeks to schedule the job and install it — depending on the size of the project. The glass order is the long pole: every cut-out for hinges, locks and pulls has to be in the leaf before it is tempered, so the drawings have to be right before anything is made. Installing a frameless door or a small front is usually a day on site; a larger glass front runs over several days to weeks.
Can broken glass be repaired, or does it have to be replaced?
In a commercial building it is replaced. A chip in a windshield can be filled because laminated automotive glass is built for it; architectural glass is not. Tempered glass that has been broken has released its stress and is finished, a cracked annealed lite is a safety-glazing failure waiting to happen, and a sealed unit with a broken lite has lost its cavity. What can genuinely be repaired is the frame and the hardware around the glass, which is often what actually failed.
Who is allowed to inspect a fire door?
Someone with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the assemblies being inspected — that is the wording the standard uses, and it is a competency requirement rather than a single licence. In practice, inspections are done by door contractors and by inspectors holding a recognised fire door inspection certification. What matters to a building owner is that the inspector knows what a listing requires and can tell you which findings are code deficiencies and which are maintenance.
Four decades of doors for names Ontario knows — Canada’s Wonderland, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, the LCBO, Metrolinx, Marriott & Hilton hotels, the University of Toronto — plus thousands of businesses across the GTA. Dependable people, quality products, since 1979.
