Door systems across Kitchener
We work throughout Kitchener — Huron Business Park, Bridgeport Business Park, Grand River Business Park, Trillium Industrial Park and the blocks around them. The buildings here are mostly advanced manufacturing and automotive parts, technology and digital media and health care, institutional and life sciences, and each puts different demands on a door: traffic volume, insurance and fire requirements, and how much downtime an opening can afford. Kitchener’s 256,885 residents keep those buildings busy.
We have completed 72 door jobs in Kitchener since 2020 — automatic doors, commercial doors, commercial glass and aluminum doors and hollow metal and steel doors — including work on Seabrook Drive, King Street East, Mooregate Crescent and King Street West.

Common questions about doors
Does a universal washroom need a power door operator?
In practice, yes — and it is the reason this is a package rather than a door. The barrier-free requirement is that a person using the washroom can operate the door, and on a room that has to be closed, locked, unlocked and opened again by someone who may have one usable hand, a low-energy operator with actuators on both sides is the only arrangement that reliably does it. What varies between projects is the lock, the indication and the call station around it, not whether the door is powered.
What is a standard exterior commercial door size?
A 3'0" by 7'0" single leaf is the commercial standard, and most rear, service and stairwell doors in Ontario are that size. Widths run from 2'0" to 4'0" in two-inch increments and heights are usually 6'8", 7'0" or 8'0", with 4'0" by 8'0" the largest standard single leaf before the door, its hinges and its frame all become custom. Standard pairs are built from two standard leaves — 6'0" by 7'0", from a pair of 3'0" doors, is the common double door. Staying on that grid is the difference between a door that ships in days and one that joins the four-to-six-week production queue.
Can an aluminum entrance or storefront be fire-rated?
Standard aluminum entrance doors are not fire-rated — aluminum’s melting point is too low for a rated assembly. Where an opening needs a fire rating we supply hollow-metal or fire-rated wood doors instead. Tell us the rating you need and we’ll spec the right product.
Can you fit a frame into an existing opening?
Yes — existing-opening frames are made for exactly that. They are set into a finished masonry or drywall opening and anchored through the jambs rather than built into the wall, which means the wall does not have to be opened up to change a frame. It is the normal way a frame is replaced in an occupied building, and it is why a frame change rarely means a construction project.
Our storefront door has dropped and won't latch — is that this?
Only partly. If the glass in the leaf is broken, that is glass work. If the leaf has dropped, drags, will not latch or the closer has failed, that is the door hardware — pivots, continuous hinges, closers, locks and thresholds — and it is covered on our commercial glass door repair page. The two turn up together often enough that we send a crew who can do both, but they are different jobs and a dropped door will break the new glass if it is glazed and left.
Do fire-rated steel doors need special hinges?
They need the hinges the listing specifies — steel ball-bearing butt hinges in the listed size and number, or a listed continuous hinge. Aluminum, plastic-bearing or lightweight residential hinges are not permitted on a fire-rated assembly, and using fewer hinges than the listing calls for is a common inspection failure on doors that have been rehung by a handyman.
Four decades of doors for names Ontario knows — Canada’s Wonderland, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, the LCBO, Metrolinx, Marriott & Hilton hotels, the University of Toronto — plus thousands of businesses across the GTA. Dependable people, quality products, since 1979.
