Automatic Sliding Doors in Mississauga: Record Sliders and a New Vestibule for Signature Aviation
The exterior automatic sliding doors and vestibule at Signature Aviation in Mississauga replaced with Record 5100 bi-parting and 5100T telescopic sliders in a Windspec 630 series glass and aluminum vestibule, for Royalty General Construction as general contractor. Completed in July 2025, with the hardware adapted for the airport's security access.

Signature Aviation's building in Mississauga needed its exterior automatic sliding doors and vestibule replaced. Royalty General Construction was the general contractor, and Canuck supplied and installed the new sliders and the glass and aluminum vestibule. The job was completed in July 2025.
The client had been given a 6–8 week lead time. The sliders came late, and the reason it did not matter is a small lesson in how trades fit together.

The entrance uses both kinds of slider. Bi-parting doors have two leaves that slide apart from the centre. Telescopic doors have leaves that slide in stacked layers to one side, which gives a wider clear opening where there is less wall to slide into. Between the outer and inner doors, the vestibule is a glazed space that keeps the weather out of the building every time the doors open.
Late doors, and why it didn't matter
The sliding doors arrived two to three weeks late. We worked with the manufacturer to expedite them, and the delay was absorbed because the new flooring was being installed at the same time.
When the sliders were delayed, we worked closely with Record to have them expedited. In the end they arrived two to three weeks later than planned.
That would normally push the whole job back. Here it did not, because the flooring was still being installed in the entrance at the time. The flooring was completed a couple of days after the doors arrived.
Adapted for airport security
The client asked for some modifications to the hardware to improve the airport security access at the entrance. These were straightforward to make. The client also pointed out a few items that needed correcting, and we put them right to the client's satisfaction.

What is the difference between bi-parting and telescopic sliders?
Bi-parting sliders open from the centre, with two leaves moving apart. Telescopic sliders stack their leaves to one side, which gives a wider opening in less wall space. This entrance uses both: Record 5100 bi-parting and 5100T telescopic doors.
What happens if automatic doors are delayed?
Work with the manufacturer to expedite them, and sequence the other trades around the delay. On this job the flooring was installed while the doors were late, so the delay was absorbed.
