Restaurant Storefront Windows in Mississauga: A Glass Aluminum Front, Operable Windows and Bi-Folds for Mishree
The exterior glass and aluminum doors, windows and bi-fold system for the new Mishree restaurant in Mississauga: Windspec 655 storefront framing, 925 series sliders and 535 series operable windows, and a Commdoor 1781 series bi-fold. Canuck was the glazing subcontractor to Boston Group, and finished before the restaurant's opening date in 2023.

Mishree was a new restaurant being built in Mississauga, and Canuck was the glazing subcontractor for its exterior: the glass and aluminum doors, the windows and a bi-fold system. Boston Group was the general contractor. We were awarded the work in June 2023, and most of it was complete by October 2023, ahead of the opening.
The opening date was set. Everything glazed had to be in by then.

The front is a long run of glass in dark aluminum framing, turning the corner of the building. Some of the windows open: the 925 series windows slide, and the 535 series units are operable windows, so the dining room can be aired. The bi-fold folds back to open a section of the wall entirely.
The bi-fold took the longest
The bi-fold's lead time was longer than expected. It still arrived and went in before the restaurant's opening date.
On a restaurant package, the bi-fold is often the item with the longest lead time: it is a made-to-measure system with more moving parts than a window. On this job it took longer than expected to arrive, and it was still installed before the opening.
What made the schedule work was coordination between the trades. On a new build, the glazing depends on the openings being ready and the other trades leaving room for it, and good communication on site kept that moving.
After the main installation, the remaining work was capping and caulking around the openings and the final finishing.
Fogged glass, replaced under warranty
Later, some of the glass units lost their seals and began to fog between the panes. An insulated glass unit is two panes sealed together, and when the seal fails, moisture gets in and the glass clouds. We replaced every affected unit under warranty.

What is a bi-fold door on a restaurant?
A glass door made of panels that fold back against each other, opening a wide section of the wall. Restaurants use them to open the dining room to the outside. This job used a Commdoor 1781 series bi-fold.
Why does glass fog between the panes?
Because the seal on the insulated unit has failed and moisture has got in. The fix is to replace the glass unit. On this job the affected units were replaced under warranty.
What should be ordered first on a restaurant glazing package?
The item with the longest lead time, often the bi-fold. On this job its lead time ran longer than expected, and it was still installed before opening day.
