Broken patio door in Markham: we dispatch 24/7.
Markham is roughly a 40-minute run from our Mississauga shop — less if a technician is already in the area — so a truck is usually on site the same day.
Emergency board-up, security and make-safe first — permanent repair scheduled after.
Broken patio door glass in Markham
A cracked or shattered pane is the patio door call we get most. The frame, rollers and lock are usually fine, so only the glass unit is replaced — in the door you already have.
Made safe first
After a break-in we come out overnight — to Unionville, Markham Village or anywhere else in Markham — clear the glass and board up the opening so the house can be locked. A crack that still holds waits for a daytime visit.Measured for a new unit
Patio door glass is tempered, usually a double-glazed sealed unit. The new one is made to your panel's size, with Low-E and gas fill if the original had them.Fitted into your existing panel
One visit to measure, one to fit. With the panel out, we check the rollers and weatherstrip too.Don't slide a cracked panel: tempered glass can break all at once. Keep it closed and call us.
Aluminum or vinyl — what the frame changes about a patio door repair in Markham
Most sliding patio doors in Markham houses have either an aluminum frame or a vinyl one. The parts that wear out are the same kind of part on both. The frame decides how those parts are adjusted, which of them wear out first, and at what point the door is no longer worth repairing.
Fix a dragging or sticking patio door in Markham
After a break-in, or if the door will not lock or the glass is broken, call 800-522-6825 — the line is answered 24 hours and we come out overnight to board it up. For a door that drags, grinds, jumps the track, drafts or has fogged between the panes, tell us what it is doing, whether the frame is aluminum or vinyl, and whereabouts in Markham you are. A photo of the bottom corner of the sliding panel helps us bring the right rollers.
Common questions about patio door repair
Do you repair patio screen doors?
No. We work on the patio door itself: its rollers, track, lock, handle, weatherstrip and glass. Re-screening and screen-door repairs are a separate trade, and a screen specialist will serve you better for those.
How long does a patio door repair take?
Weatherstrip, a lock adjustment, a track clean and a roller adjustment usually take one visit of under an hour or two. Rollers, locks and handles also take one visit when we can identify the part in advance. When the part has to be ordered for your make of door, the first visit is to identify it and the second is to fit it. A sealed glass unit always takes two visits, because it is made to your size. A complete new patio door is made to your opening. It takes 4–6 weeks to produce and then 1–2 weeks to schedule the installation.
Can a sliding patio door be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Most sliding doors can be repaired. The rollers, track cap, lock, keeper, handle, weatherstrip and glass unit can all be replaced separately, and a door with new parts works like a new door. A replacement makes more sense when the frame itself has failed. That means a rotted wood sill or subfloor under it, a vinyl frame that has cracked or warped, or an old aluminum door that is simply too cold to live with.
