Canuck Door Systems recently completed a project at 140 Sunrise Avenue, Toronto, supplying and installing premium glass aluminum doors in Toronto and storefront systems for Valleywood Canada. This project was designed to modernize the property’s appearance, improve energy efficiency, and enhance functionality for tenants.
The work involved removing outdated storefront systems and replacing them with Windspec 655 Series clear anodized aluminum thermally broken storefront systems. To complement the upgrade, our team also installed Windspec 720 Series sliding windows to replace old awning-style windows.
To ensure durability and energy performance, all installations featured Oldcastle Low E & Argon clear thermal tempered glass.
Challenges and Solutions
Like many large-scale property upgrades, this project came with challenges:
- Tenant Budget Constraints: Two tenants initially scheduled for storefront replacements were unable to proceed, resulting in a project delay of over a year. The systems were later installed in other units with similar openings to complete the project.
- Site Preparation Issues: Despite multiple instructions, the site openings were not adequately prepared. Our team installed frames without adequate wood support and returned after corrections to complete the installation.
- Glass Installation Challenges: Unexpected difficulties occurred during the glass fitting stage, but our team successfully developed solutions to finish the work to specification.
