PCI Pharma Services runs a single-storey brick building at 1 Rimini Mews in Mississauga. Its exterior glass and aluminum windows and its storefront door were due for replacement, and the company came to Canuck directly, with no general contractor. We supplied and installed the new windows and door, and the job was finished in May 2025.
The client's main requirement was the schedule. We had given a 6–8 week lead time, and the job was measured against it.
Four decades of doors for names Ontario knows — Canada’s Wonderland, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, the LCBO, Metrolinx, Marriott & Hilton hotels, the University of Toronto — plus thousands of businesses across the GTA. Dependable people, quality products, since 1979.
What went in
The new windows are Commdoor 2500 series framing, and the storefront door is a Commdoor 175 series door system in matching aluminum. The building's windows run in long horizontal bands between brick piers, so the framing had to carry wide runs of glass in a straight, even line from one end of the elevation to the other.

Working next to people inside
The building stayed in use during the work. For safety, every window was scheduled with the client in advance, so no one was working close to an opening from the inside while it was being replaced.
When a window comes out, the opening is exposed on both sides. On a working building that means agreeing, window by window, which openings the crew will take next, so the client can keep staff away from them. That was the only real constraint on this job, and it was handled by planning rather than by stopping work.
The rest ran as planned: drawings, production, installation and a final quality check, all on the timeline promised to the client.
Putting things right
Two things were not right first time, and both were fixed.
Three pieces of glass were remade. One broke during installation, and two arrived from the manufacturer in the wrong sizes. Each was replaced with a correct unit.
A few items were corrected after handover. When the job was finished, the client pointed out a few details that needed attention. We came back and corrected them to the client's satisfaction.
Neither is unusual on a window replacement. What matters is that they are fixed, and that the client ends up with the job they paid for. The client was happy with the service.

Questions this job answers
Can windows be replaced while a building is in use?
Yes. On this job the building stayed in use, and each window was scheduled with the client ahead of time so nobody was working next to an open opening. It needs a little more planning than an empty building, but it avoids shutting the business down.
How long does a commercial window replacement take?
On this job the client was given a 6–8 week lead time, and the work kept to it. The lead time covers drawings, production and installation. It depends on the manufacturer's workload, so it is worth asking for one in writing before you commit.
What happens if a glass unit breaks during installation?
It is remade and replaced. On this job one unit broke during installation and two arrived in the wrong size, and all three were remade.
Can the storefront door be replaced at the same time as the windows?
Yes, and it is usually worth doing. Here the storefront door was replaced in the same aluminum framing family as the windows, so the whole front matches.
