Canuck Door Systems was selected to supply and install hollow metal doors in Kitchener with welded frames and sidelites at the Grand River Hospital Parking Garage. The project was completed in partnership with Complete Concrete Restoration LTD, which was managing the full restoration of the hospital’s multi-level parking structure.
Due to the high foot traffic at the hospital and the lack of on-site storage, the project required detailed daily planning and precise coordination. Each stairwell had to remain accessible to patients and visitors, meaning the installation needed to be carried out one stairwell at a time without disrupting flow.
Additionally, although the project was initially specified with Dorex hardware, the customer requested an upgrade to premium SARGENT panic hardware and LCN door closers, which required resourcing parts from the U.S. and careful tracking to ensure on-time delivery.
Canuck Door Systems removed and dispo=sed of the outdated door systems and installed 15 Hollow Metal Doors with Welded Metal Frames and Sidelites, SARGENT 8815fetl32d Panic Bars with Passage Trim and LCN 4040xp PA 689 Surface-Mounted Closers. These high-end products were chosen for their durability and reliability, which aligns with the client’s request for robust hardware.
We worked closely with All Steel Doors Ltd to ensure quality craftsmanship and lead-time precision. With clear communication between our team, the general contractor, and the hospital, the project was completed within the set timeline.
The project was awarded in June 2023, and our team promptly submitted detailed shop drawings for client review. The Grand River Hospital team conducted a thorough evaluation to ensure all specified products met their standards for quality and durability. Upon receiving approval in July 2023, we immediately proceeded with production to align with the project timeline. Although the materials were ready by September 2023, installation was postponed due to site readiness. The on-site work officially commenced in April 2024 and was completed by June 2024.
The parking garage now features durable, secure, and code-compliant entry systems, providing smooth access and improved user safety. The upgraded hardware ensures longevity and reliability for years to come.
